The annual Spring Flower Festival will take place from January 17 to 29 at the Crescent Lake area in Phu My Hung in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, as part of celebrations for the lunar new year (Tet) holiday.

On 7 ha, the festival will have four main areas: a spring road, a spring wharf, a spring garden, and a display of flower and plant art works.

The spring road is a highlight of the annual festival. Seven hundred meters in length on Ton Dat Tien Street, it features paddy and many kinds of flowers from all regions of Vietnam, such as sunflowers, daisies, periwinkles, and cosmos.

There will be a countryside section depicting the rice harvest season, with a giant rice field, a mound of straw, and a cow cart. A giant 5.4-meter-high statue of a rat, the zodiac animal of the new lunar year, will be displayed among other statues of rats along the road.

The spring wharf area will have a floating flower market where visitors can release flower garlands and colored lanterns to pray for peace and happiness. On the main stage in the evening will be musical performances to entertain guests.

The spring garden area, which is connected to the flower street via the Starlight Bridge, will feature typical countryside scenery, with trellises of gourd and winter melon and beds of corn and leaf mustard, showing the traditional planting life in the countryside.

Flower growers from Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces such as Ben Tre, Dong Thap, and Tien Giang will join the event and display their bonsai art works. Competitions for flower and plant artists will also be organized.

The spring flower festival has now become a key event in the city to welcome in the new year and attracts some 1.5 million visitors each year.
